This is a thirty six page direct mail catalog for Zegrahm Expeditions promoting their 2013 land-based expeditions.
My role was to conceptualize, design, produce, pre-press, proof and press-check the finished piece. Following that, I was responsible for producing the PDF version, for archiving the files and logging applicable photography into an image bank, and for deconstructing the brochure into various assets suitable for web publication.
I worked closely with program managers, executive directors, and an in-house writer/editor for the printed version. I also worked with a web & multimedia developer for the online version of this piece.
I used photography sourced from an in-house image bank and a network of travel photographers.
Destination and program-specific spreads in this catalog were designed to stand alone as individual two-page PDFs or digitally printed double-sided 8.5 x 11″ color flyers. Flexibility within the design of these layouts, namely divisibility, scalability, and minimized dependency on bleeds, allows for easily-produced, cost-saving secondary promotions of individual trips as needed. One of these catalogs yields thirteen separate flyers or PDFs.
This piece was printed in Seattle by ColorGraphics using FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) approved paper.
To develop and complete this project, I used a combination of pencil sketches, research, InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Word during multiple rounds of proofing and design modification.
